A community-led pathway for skilled workers and local employers
IRCC describes RCIP as a permanent residence pathway for skilled workers who want to work and settle in participating rural and more remote communities. The pilot relies on designated employers and community recommendations to connect local labour needs with qualified applicants.
Before a permanent residence application can move forward, applicants generally need a valid job offer from a designated employer and must satisfy the federal eligibility requirements that apply to work experience, language, education and settlement funds.

A high community score is useful only where a community actually operates a competitive points pool. In a first-come or pass/fail system, a complete and timely employer-supported submission may matter more than collecting optional local-connection points.
Community rules, intake dates, occupation controls and allocation limits can change. Each selection guide includes an official source and review date so visitors know what to confirm before relying on the information.
