Understanding the Pictou County scoring process

Pictou County uses a monthly pool model. A candidate needs at least 50 points overall and also needs the minimum 10 points in each of the five core factors. This means a high-scoring occupation cannot compensate for a zero in language, education, work experience or intent to reside.

The community’s occupation list is weighted toward technology, engineering, health, early childhood education, retail management, cooks, trades and selected manufacturing roles. The score is competitive rather than an approval promise, because only a limited number of recommendations are expected in each scheduled intake.
